Marion Montgomery Canine, who formerly lived on the farm near Freedom church now owned by George Lowman, died at the home of his son, Cecil in Indianapolis, Sunday morning after a three weeks illness caused by an abcess in the ear. Funeral at the Presbyterian church in Marshall on Tuesday afternoon. Burial in Bethany Cemetery. Mr. Canine was born near this place in 1850 and was the son of Cornelius L. and Kezia Montgomery Canine. He married Celia Jane Russell, now dead April 13, 1871. He is survived by three sons: William Banks who lives in Kansas; Charles Russell of Marshall and Cecil Clare of Indianapolis. For a number of years he has lived with his son in Marshall but spent the winter in Kansas. He was a brother of Mrs. George Harshbarger and Walter Canine of Ladoga and Mrs. Louise Myers of Bedford. - kbz

A former resident of Marshall and Crawfordsville, the Rev. Montgomery Canine, aged 82, died at 7:15 o'clock this morning at the home of a son, Cecil Canine in Indianapolis, according to word received by friends and relatives here. He was born near Waveland in Montgomery County April 13, 1850 and he was married to Celia Russell April 13, 1871. His wife expired almost 5 years ago. For seven years the Rev. Canine lived here, moving to Indianapolis only a few months ago. Previous to that time he lived in Crawfordsville. He had been a minister for many years in the Primitive Baptist Church. Besides his son in Indianapolis, he is survived by two sons, Charles of Marshall and Banks, of Cedarville, Kansas. The body will be brought to the home of Charles Canine here Tuesday morning and services will be held at the Marshall Presbyterian church at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be at the Bethany cemetery here.
