As noted last week, the funeral of James Canine was held at Old Union on Sat. Mr. Canine was born on the old Peter Canine farm, on a part of which the church stands, in 1843, and was the son of Peter & Hester Canine. He was one of the 3 living brothers of the late John R. Canine. He married Miss Hulda MARTIN and for some years lived on the Jacob WOLVERTON farm near Freedom. He then moved to the neighborhood of New Ross where he lived 43 years. There were 2 daughters, both living: Mrs. Addie May Young of Brunswick Ky; and Mrs. Minerva Walker. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. Those present from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Walker; Messrs. Hankins, Neeley and Walkup of New Ross; Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery Canine, George W. Canine and Mrs. Clara Thompson of Crawfordsville; Mr. and Mrs. Burris of Ladoga; Mrs. Blance Tomlinson of Rockville and Mr. and Mrs. Young of Brunswick, KY. - kbz
