GEORGE WASHINGTON CANINE

George W. Canine, farmer, died at his home a mile and a half east of the city at 4:30 o'clock Sat. morning. His death followed a two week's illness with pneumonia. He was born near Waveland on July 5, 1839, the son of Peter and Hester Canine. On Jan 14, 1869 he was married to Mary McMaken who died soon after their marriage. On Sept 30, 1873, he was married to Mary Jane Smith, who died 17 years ago. One son, Theodore Canine, was born to this union. Mr. Canine lived at his farm on the Mt. Tabor Rd for 50 years. He was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church. He is survived by his son, two sisters, Mrs. Margaret McCray of Attica and Mrs. Anna Doyle of Indianapolis, and a brother, Henry Canine of Ashland, Oregon. The funeral was held from the home on the Mt. Tabor Rd on Monday afternoon at one o'clock. Rev. D. Heitmeyer officiated and burial was at Oak Hill - kbz
