New Ross -- Caleb Canada, an old resident of this place dropped dead at his home here on December 4 about 9 a.m. of heart disease. Apparently he was as well as usual that morning and he had performed the daily routine of morning duties in addition to sweeping the snow from the sidewalk. Mr. Canada was born in Boone County, Indiana April 12, 1844 hence was 64 years 7 months 22 days old at the time of his death. The great part of his life he had spent in this community. He enlisted in the Union army in 1861 and served during the entire war and received an honorable discharge in 1865. - kbz
