New Richmond, Jan. 29 - Don Joe Campbell, well known New Richmond grocer, who had been ill with heart disease since last July, died Wednesday morning of last week at 2:55 o'clock at his home here. He was known to his friends as "D.J." and had operated a grocery in New Richmond since 1931. A lifelong resident of this community, Mr. Campbell was born Nov. 28, 1902 in New Richmond, the son of Frank and Nevada Campbell. He was united in marriage with Lola Dutcher, Oct. 21, 1926. Mr. Campbell was a graduate of the New Richmond high school, and a past master of the New Richmond lodge No. 4, F. and A.M. He also was associated with the Eastern Star, and for many years had been a member of the New Richmond Methodist church. Surviving are: the widow; two daughters, Aylene and Kay Campbell; the mother, and sister, Mrs. Clyde Wade. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church Friday afternoon. Burial was made in the New Richmond cemetery. Rev. E.F. Prevo conducted the service. Mrs. Charles Daniel of Thorntown, accompanied by Miss Mary Helen Seal, organist, sang "In the Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Pallbearers were Hugh Hornbeck, Alfred Allman, Maurice Coffman, Jesse Hinman, Claude Carr and Paul Owens. Flowers were carried by Mesdames Roy Hanawalt, John Kimbrell, H.D. Kindell, Claude Carr, Maurice Coffman, Oscar Cochrane, R.D. Swank, Earl Warren, Martin Veatch and Bruce McCallum. - kbz
