Mrs. Sarah Hayes Calhan, well known resident of the Linnsburg neighborhood died Tuesday morning at her home, southeast of Linnsburg after a lingering illness. Death occurred at 3:35 a.m. and was caused by a complication of diseases with which she had been afflicted the past seveal years. Mrs. Calhan was a native of Ireland and was born in County Limerick Feb 18, 1861, the daughter of William and Catherine Hayes. She received her education at Bainbridge and Ladoga State Normal and on November 26, 1885, Thanksgiving Day she was united in marriage to Patrick H. Calhan Crawfordsville who preceded her in death about 15 years ago. Mrs. Cahan was a devout member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and for many years had resided at the home southeast of Linnsburg. Surviving are two sons, William T. Calhan at home and John H. Calhan World War veterans, living one-half mile from the family residence; a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Cassidy of Batesville; one sister, Mrs. Anna Calhan who made her home with the deceased; a granddaughter, Mrs. Patricia Kellerman and two grandsons, Robert and Tommy Calhan. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Friday monring at St. Bernard's Catholic Church with Rev JC Keating in charge. Burial at Calvary cemetery. - kbz
