The St. Louis Globe-Democrat has an explanation which clears up the mystery of the disappearance of young Robert Caldwell. The deceased wa a young man of 19 years of age and on the 8th of May visited St. Louis with Col. Carrington and a number of Wabash College fellow students. He had been in delicate health for some time and his brother who resides in that city persuaded him to remain there for awhile, and for a time the young man appeared to grow out of the despondency which had seized upon him. Between 7 and 8 o'clock on the evening of the 15th he left his brother's house and was never seen alive since. On the morning of the 23d a floating body was foudn in the Mississppi River just below the city and was identified by HW Caldwell as that of his brother. The body was packed in ice to await the arrival of the father, Rev. R.F. Caldwell of Thorntown. The coroner's verdict was a "clear case of self-destruction." --typed by kbz
