DARLINGTON – Alva Caldwell, 81, of Speedway, a former resident of Darlington, died Wednesday in Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis. He was a member of the Speedway Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge. Born July 20, 1892, near Darlington, he was the son of Frank and Eva Caldwell. He was married to Ruth Dickson of Jamestown. She died in 1955. Survivors include a son, Robert Norman of Indianapolis; a daughter, Mrs. William Chadd of Speedway; a sister, Mrs. Henry Lidikay of Darlington; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Conkle Funeral Home at Speedway. Burial will be in Jamestown Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. – jlr
