Darlington, May 31 - Israel H. Butler, 72, years old, died at his home at 7 o’clock Sunday morning from a complication of disease. He was a life-long resident Montgomery County and was one of its best known and highly respected citizens. He was active in the social as well as business advance of the community in which he lived and was prominent in the Friends church of which he had long been a member. His father was one of the pioneers in the county coming here in 1834. In his early days Mr. Butler was a farmer but for the last 40 years he had been engaged in business as a druggist, hardware merchant and latterly as furniture dealer and funeral director. He had been in business longer than any man in this community. Last winter Mr. Butler spent several months in California for his health but without making any noticeable improvement and has been gradually failing since his return. He is survived by three children. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon. --- kbz
