Rev. Johnson Burden, well known colored minister of Indiana, who was pastor of the AME Church in Crawfordsville, a number of years died at his home in Thorntown Sunday night at 9 o’clock. His body was sent from Thorntown to Terre Haute Monday night for burial. The funeral will occur at Terre Haute Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Lew Ratliff of Franklin, Ind. Rev. Burden, who was 76 years of age at the time of his death, was the father of Mrs. John Hale of this city. He had been engaged in ministerial work in Indiana for the AME Church for 37 years and had been pastor at Thorntown for some time. Many Crawfordsville colored people knew him well and were pleased with his preaching during his pastorate of their church here. - kz
