A special from Thorntown says: “Two
pioneers of this immediate vicinity have died within three hours of each other.
The first was Henry C. Handlen,
seventy years old, who was the victim of an abscess in the right side. Mr.
Handlen had lived continuously in Thorntown for forty years, and all his life
in this county and Clinton .
He was a member of the Masonic and I. O. O. F. fraternities and of the M. E.
Church, and he leaves a wife and daughter, Mrs. O. W. Perkins, of Lebanon . The second death was that of Greenberry Buntin, eighty two years
old. He was a native of Kentucky , but a
resident of Clinton
and this county since 1833. Several children survive him, including Mrs. Lu
Potts, of this city.” -kbz
