Charles Bunnell, 81, rural Waynetown died Saturday in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Mr. Bunnell farmed in the Elmdale area. His memberships include Montgomery County Council; vice commander of American Legion Post 445; Tipmont Round-Up Committee chairman; 4-H; North Montgomery School Re-organization Board and Elmdale Community Church, where he served as Sunday School teacher and elder. He was a 1941 Waynetown HS graduate. He served in the 8th AF in Europe during WWII. He earned the rank of Sgt and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was born June 24, 1923 to Robert N. and WInnie Florence Dazey Bunnell. He married Mary Margaret Miller Feb 22, 1947. She survives. Also surviving are sons Timothy (Debbie), Covington and Michael (Jane), Clarendon Hills, Ill; sister Fern Irvin, Wingate; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  A brother and two sisters are deceased. Funeral services are scheduled 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in SHoemaker Funeral Home, 202 S. Indiana 25, Waynetown with Rev. Al White and George Smith officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with military rites conducted. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home.
