Mrs. Mary Jane Busenbark, 91 years old, died Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of her son, C. A. Busenbark, six miles south of the city. Mrs. Busenbark sustained a severe fall when at the house of another son Joseph Busenbark caught fire. In the excitement she fell and broke her hip, the injury and the shock hastening her death. Mrs. Busenbark was perhaps the oldest settler to immigrate into Montgomery county. She was born in Ohio June 3, 1827, and moved to this county when a small girl, coming through Indianapolis when only two grocery stores and a blacksmith shop formed the business district of that city. She has lived in this county since then and has seen Crawfordsville spring up from a few houses to the city it is today. Mrs. Busenbark married to John Busenbark of this county who preceded her in death thirteen years ago. She is survived by two sons, C.A. and Joseph Busenbark of this county; three daughters, Jerusha Boraker, of Missouri; Mrs. Ella Fairchild, Kansas; and Mrs. Clara Dunn, of Hammond. Funeral services were he1d from the residence of C.A. Busenbark on Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, with Rev. William H. Kerry officiating. Interment was made at Oak Hill cemetery. - kbz
