Wingate - Mrs. Ellen Burnett, 74, of Wingate, died here at 4:10 p.m. Monday. She had been in failing health the last five years. Born June 1, 1892 at what is now Ft. Knox, Ky., she was a daughter of William and Mary Harper Patterson. She married Harvey Burnett at Lafayette on Nov. 30, 1910. They resided in the Odell community before moving to Wingate in 1927. Mrs. Burnett was a member of the Baptist Church at Louisville. Here she attended the Christian Church. Survivors include the husband; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Lee Ward of Rt. 2 Brookston and Mrs.Mary Mitchell of LaPorte; two sons, Russell of Rt. 1 West Point and Kenneth of Rt. 12 Lafayette; six grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Esther Byers of Linden, and a brother, William Patterson of Waveland. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Thursday at Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown, where friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Scott Comrie will be the officiating minister, and interment will be in Wheeler Cemetery north of Wingate.
