Helen Lee Burkett, 72, native of Crawfordsville, died at 2:45 a.m. Aug. 12 at Culver Hospital, while she had been visiting at the home of a nephew near Crawfordsville, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lee of Rt. 7. Mrs. Burkett had been living in Clearwater, Fla., recently with her sister, Mrs. Opal Rice, who survives along with several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Burkett retired in 1960 after 15 years of service as a government PBX operator in California. She was born June 2, 1896, in Crawfordsville to James M. and Mary E. Lee. She was married in California to George Burkett. Mrs. Burkett was a member of the Christian Church of Crawfordsville. She was educated at Tuttle Grade School and Crawfordsville High School. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Powers Funeral Home. Burial is to be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
