Mabel R. Burkart, 75, of 303 Binford St. died at 11:20 a.m. Saturday in Culver Hospital. Mrs. Burkart was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and had been active as a hospital volunteer and in mental health work. She was also a member of GAR and World War I Barracks Auxiliary. She was born in Montgomery County on March 30, 1898, a daughter of George and Mary Freco Rogers. She married Perry Burkart, former county assessor, on Sept. 8, 1920. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Jester of Salina, Kan.; an aunt, Mrs. Pearl Biggs of Crawfordsville, and 10 grandchildren. Services will be held in St. Bernard Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry F. Ward officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Hunt & Son Funeral Home where the rosary will be recited at 8:15 p.m. today. – jlr
