New Market - Mrs. Mary Burgess, 78 died at 3 p.. Saturday at Friendship Nursing Home in Ladoga. She had been ill 2 months. Mrs. Burgess was born July 23, 1887 near Waveland, a daughter of Hugh and Clara Cowan Hodgkin. She married Willie F. Burgess November of 1913. She was a member of New Market Methodist Church, 50-year member of Pythian Sisters Lodge at New Market, Crawfordsville Pythian Sisters Lodge and OES of Crawfordsville. She was grand chief of Indiana Pythian Sisters in 1944. Surviving are her husband; a brother, Earl Hodgskin of Indepenence, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Stilwell of Houston, TX and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Burgess was precedeceased by 4 sisters and a brother. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Noble-Reeves Funeral Home. Burial in Masonic Cemetery in Crawfordsville.
