BREWER, Neely Gene - Montgomery InGenWeb Project

Gene Brewer, 78, passed away in the early morning of May 1, 2026, at Franciscan Health Lafayette. Born Nov. 27, 1947, to William Brewer and Nadine Vincent Brewer Ellis, in Mayfield, Kentucky, he was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School in 1967 and went on to own his own small business, Brewer Construction. He shared 35 years with his wife, Starr Justus Brewer. Gene was an avid softball player at the Elston Diamonds, where he also coached Little League, he also was an antique car enthusiast, owning a 1967 Camaro. Gene was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, watching them win the World Series in 2016, he also was an IU sports fan and a Wabash sports fan. He worked at and attended Grace Ave Church of God. Surviving family includes: wife Starr Brewer; children, Robert (Tonya) Brewer, Jamie Brewer, Jason (Kelly) Brewer, Krissy (Trent) Bexell, Kelli (Michael) Ferrando, Shawn (Maureen) Brewer, Kim Sluder and Nathan Brewer; grand-children, Jordan, Gabriella, Jordan, Brianna, Corey, Sarah, Cara, Katie, Devon, Allie, Morgan, Josh, Eric, Han nah, Sidney, Lexie, Andrew, Brittnee and Maycee; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Pat Bryant, Stella Danvile and Della Nuckols; and several nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ricky; and sister Barb.
