In the death of Mrs. Ann E. Brown, wife of John S. Brown, loses one of her noblest women and best of mothers.  Mrs. Brown had been in poor health for some time and recently went to Cincinnati for medical treatment. There she died surrounded by her family on Sunday night of cancer of the breast. This was a disease the existence of which Mrs. Brown guarded from her friends for several years but its cure baffled the most skilled physicians of the country. The remains were brought to Crawfordsville on Monday afternoon and the funeral occurred from the home residence on Tuesday afternoon.  The services were conducted by Mrs. Brown’s pastor, Rev. JP Stratton of Center Church. The funeral was large attended for the deceased was possessed of a character and nature that caused her to be loved and respected by a large circle in all classes of life interment was made at Oak Hill.  Mrs. Brown was 52 years of age on the 26th of last February. She was married to JS Brown 32 years ago. She was the daughter of the late John W. Blair and sister to AH Blair and the late Mrs. RBF Peirce.  Besides her husband she leaves two grown children, Fanny and James B. Brown. - kz

The appointments at Veedersburg and Crawfordsville on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week for a joint discussion between the congressional candidates, were put off to an indefinite date by request of Mr. Peirce an account of the death of Mrs. John S. Brown, his sister-in-law. - kz

On account of the death of Mrs. JB Brown an active worker in Center Church, the organ recital which was to have occurred earlier in the week was postponed until tonight. A pleasant evening of song and classic melody can be promised all who attend.
