Edward T. Broaders for several years a resident of this city, died suddenly at 5 o’clock Saturday afternoon after suffering a stroke of apoplexy in the downtown streets. Mr. Broaders was standing at the alley opposite the court house on Main Street talking and laughing with friends when stricken. He fell apparently lifeless before a crowd of startled shoppers. Several men carried him across the street into the Fell & Lovatt store. Dr. Millis as immediately summoned but treatment failed to revive the stricken man and he was pronounced deat about 11 minutes after he had been stricken. He was 59 years of age and a natie of this state. He was the son of James and Maryetta Broaders. He had been a resident of this county for years and was for many years a prosperous farmer of the Wingate vicinity. He was also for sometime a weatherstrip salesman. Mr. Broaders was a prominent Mason of Wingate. His wife preceded him in death some 9 years ago. He is survived by two sons, Claude and Carl of this city, and four daughters: Mrs. Gladys Irwin of near Linden; Mrs. Ella Winters of Wingate; Mrs. Clyde Smith and Mrs. Ethel Watson of this city. Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the home of Claude Broaders, three miles north of the city. The Rev. GW Shephers, pastor of the Liberty Christian Church had charge of the services and burial was made in the family lot in the Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown.
