Waynetown -- Harold F. "Pete" Bratton, 73 of Waynetown died at 9:15 a.m. Thursday in Culver Union Hospital.  Mr. Bratton retired as Post Master at Waynetown after 33 years.  He was a member of Waynetown Christian Church where he served as deacon and was a charter member of the Loyal Workers Class of the church.  His memberships included Waynetown American Legion; Crawfordsville Veterans of Foreign Wars; National League of Postmasters; National Association of Post Masters of the US and Waynetown Masonic Lodge 302 where he served as past master. He also worked for Habitat for Humanity and was a former Town Board member.

He served three and one half years in the Army during WWII. He was a graduate of Waynetown HS.  He was born Jan 19, 1921 at Crawfordsville to Fred and Florence May Cruea Bratton.  He married Frances Norma Simms March 7, 1943.  She survives.  

Also surviving are a son, Joseph F of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Jennifer Jane David of Mansfield, Ohio and Peggy ANn Laffin of Toronto, Canada; a sister, Mary Mildred Mercer of Maderia Beach, Fla; an aunt, Opal Lewellen of Waynetown and 7 grandchildren.  

The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in Cramer-SHoemaker Funeral Home at Waynetown with Rev. George SMith and Ed Maurer officiating.  Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.  Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  Masonic services are scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.  Graveside military services will be conducted.  - kbz
