The Lord giveth and He taketh away and so He has called a loved one from our midst to His heavenly home to rest. William J. Brown was born January 14th, 1888 in Rock Castle County, Kentucky, the son of Jonas and Perlina Sowders Brown. He departed this life Friday, April 8th 1966 at 11:25 a.m. at Culver Hospital at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 25 days. He was united in marriage on November 16th, 1909 to Leola Zachary and to this union were born nine children, six of whom survive. Those who are left to mourn his passing are five daughters, Mrs. Geneva Conkright, Mrs. Ivanell Fleenor, Mrs. Nyoda Wade, Miss Bonni Brown all of this city, Mrs. Nola Gardner of New Market, and one son William Guy Brown of this city, twenty-one grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one brother, Garland Brown of Waynetown, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his wife on February 17th, 1944 and one daughter, two sons, one sister and three brothers. Bill or Dad Brown as he was affectionately called, was a loving father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his loved ones, friends, neighbors and by everyone who has known him.βIn my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you.
