NEW ROSS – Walter A. ‘Chub' Brown, 71, of Rt. 1, New Ross, died at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He was the president of the Farmers State Bank and the president of the bank's Board of Directors He was a Montgomery County commissioner from 1962 until 1965. Mr. Brown was a member of the New Ross United Methodist Church and a Member of the church board. He was president of the New Ross Cemetery Board. He was a member of Crawfordsville Rotary Club and was a 1919 graduate of New Ross High School. He attended Purdue University. Mr. Brown was born Feb. 21, 1901, southeast of New Ross, where he lived his entire life. His parents were John W. and Maud Musser Brown. On June 25, 1925, he was married at Crawfordsville to Clair Bratton, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Sam (Mary Catherine) Mahorney of Ladoga and Mrs. Dorman (Marilyn) Rogers of Tipton, and five grandchildren, Mrs. Ed (Jeanne) Miller, Daniel J. Mahorney and Patrick Mahorney, all of Ladoga, and Geoffrey and Karen Rogers, both of Tipton. Services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Hunt and Son Funeral Home at Crawfordsville, with Rev. Victor Link officiating. Burial will be in New Ross Cemetery. Friends may call after 9 p m Thursday. – jlr
