Mrs. Sarah Wilson Brown, wife of the late Capt. George R. Brown of this city, died Saturday at the home of her sisters, Mrs. John Riley and Miss Sue Wilson, in Greenfield. Mrs. Brown was born in Hamilton, Ohio, and was eighty-seven years old October 17, 1923. She was the daughter of Hugh Wilson, an old settler in this county, who was one of the first elders of old Center Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Brown spent the greater part of her life in Crawfordsville. She was educated in the Ladies Seminary here so popular in the 40's where the girls of her generation were pupils. Mrs. Jane Blair and sister, Mrs. Millie Campbell and Mrs. Nellie Wynn, so far as known are the only survivors of that school. Mrs. Brown's life was a quiet domestic one and her duties as wife and mother were faithfully performed. She was the mother of three children, two of whom died in infancy. Her daughter, Mrs. Mary Brown Hayes, wife of Basil Hayes, now of Cornstock, Mich., and their five children survive her. The funeral of Mrs. George Brown will be held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in the parlor of the Proffitt funeral home, 113 south Green street. The services will be in charge of Dr. G.L. Mackintosh of Wabash college. Internment will take place at Oak Hill cemetery.
