Mrs. Nellie Brown, 78, a resident of New Ross 58 years, died Thursday morning at Culver Hospital where she had been a patient 8 weeks. Born March 12, 1872, at Zionsville in Boone County, Mrs. Brown was the daughter of Jacob W. and Lucinda Arches Brown (sic - her parents were Jacob W. and Lucinda Archer Jones). She was married twice. Her first husband, Emory Graves, died in 1925. Five years later she married Henderson H. Brown. Mrs. Brown who was well known for her interest in children, had made a home for a number of children while she was a resident of New Ross. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church. Surviving are the husband, four sons, William M. Graves of Montpelier, Earl B. Graves of New Ross, John I. Graves of Lebanon and Emmet D. Graves of Rockville; a daughter, Mrs. Harold Needham of New Ross; a stepson, Gordon Brown of Noblesville, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Emmet Graves of Rockville; a brother, Harvey Jones, of Crawfordsville, and a sister, Mrs. Iva Whiteley, of Lebanon. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Edith Owens. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the New ROss Methodist Church, with burial at New Ross. Rev. Forrest Graves, a brother-in-law will officiate. The body will lie in state at the church one hour preceding the ritse. Friends may pay their respects at the Bright Funeral Home until 9 o'clock Friday morning. After 10 a.m. Friday friends may call at the home of the daughter in New Ross. -- kbz
