John Brown, a prosperous farmer living near Alamo committed suicide on Tuesday morning by drowning himself in the water tanks at his barn. He and his wife live alone. He got up early as his custom was to build a fire. His wife, getting up later, found that the fire had not been lighted. She proceeded to get breakfast and then called him, thinking he was working about the place. Getting no answer, she made search and finally saw something floating in the stock tank which proved to be his shirt sleeve. He had tied a large block of wood about his neck and then climbed into the tank which was located at the crossing of two fences. Mr. Brown was in easy circumstances and no reason is assigned for the act except that a twin brother committed suicide about two years ago at Marion and he brooded over this. The funeral was held at Waynetown on Wednesday. Frank Clark and Miss Etta Grim attended. Mr. Brown was a brother of Mrs. Clark. He leaves two daughters, Miss Birdie Ammerman of Alamo and Mrs. Nellie Remley of Crawfordsville. -- typed by kbz
