Alamo -- James Nelson Brown, 86, of near Alamo died early Friday morning in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He had been a patient there since Oct 16 after suffering a fractured hip in Bowles Nursing Home at Crawfordsville where he had been staying. He was born May 19, 1884, near Yeddo in Fountain County to Eli and Hanna Getts Brown. He married Bessie Woods of Judson in 1913. Mr. Brown resided in the Alamo area 25 years. Prior to that he had lived in mecca where he was employed by DeClay Products, Inc. He was educated in Yeddo. Surviving are his widow, 3 sons, Russell of Cherry Grove; Ralph serving withthe Occupational Forces in Guam and Raymond of Ft. Wayne; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Barry and Mrs. Mable Cundiff, both of Danville, Ill; a brother, John of Kankakee, Ill; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Eugene in 1965 and daughter, Alice in 1959. services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Servies-Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery east of Rockville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
