Fred H. Brown, 60, former Montgomery County sheriff, who for 25 years as associated with Warner & Peck Clothing Store in this city, died suddenly Mondy morning at his farm, northwest of here. He had been in failing helath since 1941. Mr. Brown was stricken in his home a few minutes after returning from the barn where he had attended to morning chores. Born Jan 12, 1883, at the family home near Crawfordsville, Mr. Brown was the son of Solon and Mary Hamilton Brown. He was married to Bess Cowan Aug 23, 1910 who survives together with two nieces, Mary Helen Loveless, and Caroline Brown. Mr. Brown left Crawfordsville in 1927 and until 1934 was a resident of Lafayette where he was associated with Harry Randolph in the management of a clothing store. Since then he had resided on his farm northwest of here. He was a membe rof the Robert's Chapel Methodist Church and Maosnic lodge. The last of a family of six, he was preceded in death by three brothers, and two sisters, Charles, Elory and Will Brown and Mrs. Clelie Shelby and Mrs. Alice Remley. The body was taken to Utterback & Murphy Funeral Home pending arrangments for the services. Friends, however, may pay their respects at the late residence as the body will be kept there preceding the rites. - kbz
