Crawfordsville - Mrs. Bessie Brown, 64 died at her home, 403 W. Market Street, Sunday night at 8:15 o'clock after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Brown was the widow of Fred M. Brown, formerly employed by the Warner-Peck clothing store who died in April 1943.. She was born May 8, 1884 in Elmdale, daughter of James W. and Sarah Quick Cowan. She received her education in the New Richmond schools and was a member of the Liberty Chapel Church, the Liberty Chapel Aid, the Montgomery County Home Economics Club and Busy Bunch. Surviving are the mother, Mrs. Sarah Cowan of the Market Street address; two sisters, Grace Cowan at home and Mrs. Pearl Fuller, RFD 6; two aunts, Mrs. Etta Remley of Waynetown and Mrs. Lina Hill, Peabody Home, North Manchester; 3 nephews, two nieces and a number of cousins. - kbz
