H. C. Broadstreet, 83 Rt. 1, died Wednesday night at the Laura M. Bowles Convalescent Home where he had been a patient since Aug. 10. Born in Putnam County Jan. 8, 1880, he was the son of William and Lydia Hood Broadstreet. Mr. Broadstreet grew up in Putnam County where he later became a farmer and well known breeder of Percheron horses. He left there in 1922 and lived in several places, including Wingate, Linden, Elgin, Ill., and Indianapolis, before coming to Crawfordsville in 1938. He was a member of the Brownsburg Christian Church. Mr. Broadstreet was married May 4, 1907, to the former Hazel Lou Withers, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Frank L., Freeman and Bruce, all of near Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Colesta Bratton, Lafayette; 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bright Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Scott of the Smartsburg Christian Church officiating. Burial will be at the Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Friday.
