Earl E. Bright, brother of Curtis E. Bright, local funeral director, died Sunday night in a Los Angeles hospital where he had been hospitalized for six months. He had been in failing health 1 1/2 years. Mr. Bright, 67, had been a resident of Los Angeles since the end of World War II. A veteran of two world wars, he was born Feb. 18, 1898, in Evansville, son of Miles and Flora Hay Bright. He was married Sept. 29, 1942, to Caryl Ralya. They were married in Washington, D.C. Mr. Bright was a graduate of Central High School at Evansville and University of Chicago. Following graduation from high school, he started working for Gulf Refining Co. in Pittsburgh, Pa., and had entered the University of Pittsburgh when World War I broke out. He entered the U.S. Army and was preparing to be shipped overseas when the war ended. He was employed by Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America for 20 years until World War II. From May of 1942 until August of 1945 he served with Operations Division, General Staff, as confidential secretary to the assistant chief of staff for operations. During that time he attended a number of key military conferences, including those at Potsdam. Casa Blanca, Quebec and Teheran. For his work in this area, he received the Citation for the Legion of Merit. After World War II, he and his wife returned to Los Angeles where he was employed by 20th Century Fox until his retirement about two years ago. Mr. Bright and his wife visited in Crawfordsville a number of times. Survivors in addition to the brother include an aunt, Mrs. Harry Pilkington of Evansville; and a niece, Miss Marcia Bright, a student at Indiana State University at Terre Haute. Funeral services and burial will be in Los Angeles.
