William Bratton died at his home in this city this morning at 9:30 o'clock, of consumption, aged about 46 years. A wife and five children are left to mourn. He was a soldier in Co. F. 25th Illinois regiment three years and three months in the war for the Union. He was a member of McPherson Post, No. 7, and were interred under the auspices of the Post on Friday at 2 o'clock, The interment was made at Odd Fellow's Cemetery. The religious services were conducted by Rev. G. P. Fuson. - Kim H
Note: There is a question as to whether he is buried in Odd Fellows or Oak Hill, Grant Avenue

McPherson Post, No. 7, G. A. R., through its committee, Chas. M. Travis, Samuel L. Ensminger and Joseph McDaniel, has procured headstones for the following marked soldiers’ graves:

These stones are at the freight depot of the Big 4 Railroad, and the relatives and friends of the deceased are requested to take them and set them up at the graves as soon as possible. It will be necessary to call on Chas. M. Travis, chairman of the committee, and get an order for the stones before going to the railroad agent. The following headstones were received several years ago and are still on hand: Calloway Nosler, Hiram M. Murray, James H. Vanarsdall, J. M. Barcus, William Elliott, William C. Endicott, J. C. Munford, Augustus E. Newell, James Shevelin, A. T. Blair, George Galloway.
If these stones are not taken and set at the graves soon, they will be returned to the Government. If they are not wanted for any reason, the person knowing that fact should advise Mr. Travis at once.
