Bowman - Lettie

Mrs. Lettie Bowman, one of the pioneer residents of Thorntown where she was born 983 years ago died at her home there Saturday night about midnight from a complication of diseases. She had been ill since last November. Mrs. Bowman who lived all of her life in Thorntown was the daughter of Robert and Cynthia Carson who were early settlers in Boone and Montgomery Counties. Her husband, Ross Bowman died about 15 years ago. No children were born to their union. Surviving are two brothers, Frank Carson of Memphis, Tenn and James Carson of Thorntown; and one sister, Mrs. Laura A. Neal of Indianapolis. One brother Harvey Carson died in 1909. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Christian Church in Thorntown where deceased belonged. She was the oldest living member of the church. The Rev. RR Ohaver, pastor of the church was in charge of the services. Burial was in the Old Cemetery in Thorntown. – kbz
