Bowman - Christopher

Christopher Bowman was buried at Shannondale Saturday after a long and busy life. He was noted for his industry and honesty. His word was his bond in all dealings. By his own labor he had accumulated considerable property working on his farm, as farming was his only occupation until old age warned him to stop. He then came to town where he and his wife rested from their labors and enjoyed the fruits of their hard work. Mrs. Bowman died about a year ago and now Uncle Christ has gone to join her on the other shore, leaving but one child, Mr. Wash Bowman, who has cared for them through all their sickness. Although he himself having an invalid wife they immediately after the death of mother Bowman left their own home and moved in with and cared for father until his death. Surely he has fulfilled that command, “Honor thy father and mother,” etc., and can now claim the reward. -s
