Frank Bowen, son of the Mercury Editor was drowned in Sugar Creek at the mouth of Dry Branch on Friday afternoon. In company with a young son of Gen. Manson and two other boys the deceased was in bathing but got in over his depth. His companions tried to rescue him but failed. The body was recovered two hours afterwards. The funeral services were held at the family residence on High Street on Sunday morning, Rev. Lamont officiating. - thanks to S.
