WJ Boswell for many years editor and publisher of the Noblesville Independent and Democrat died Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George W. Stoll at Grand Rapids, Mich.  Mr. Boswell was well known in and around Crawfordsville and especially to the older citizens.  He was 78 years old and was one of the pioneer newspaper men of the state.  He established the Ladoga Herald in 1866 and published it until 18874 at which time he sold the paper and with his son went to Noblesville where he established the Independent, now known as the Noblesville Democrat.  Mr. Boswell was born in Pennsylvania and came to Indiana at the age of 18.  He had worked on the Indianapolis had worked on the Indianapolis Sentinel and was well known to the printers of the state.  Mr. Boswell’s death was caused by paralysis. The body was shipped to Noblesville Thursday where the funeral occurred Friday.  He leaves surviving two sons and two daughters. - kbz
