Marie June (Stockdale) Willis Bowling, 88 of Hillsboro died at 12:50 a.m. on Friday at her residence. Marie was born on May 23, 1920 in Fountain County. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Ruby (Hershberger) Stockdale. She was a lifelong resident of Fountain County and graduated from Hillsboro HS in 1938. Marie married Paul Willis on Sept 12, 1942. He preceded her in death Dec 1, 1975. She then married Lewis Boling Oct 2, 1976. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1988. Marie worked for the Fountain County Livestock Auction and for Farm Bureau Insurance. She was a member of the New Liberty Christian Church. She had served as the secretary of the church board and as organist and pianist at the church. She had also served as the treasurer of ladies Aide.
Survivors include a son, Charles Willis of Hillsboro; a daughter, Cindy (Dean) Overfelt of Crawfordsville; a stepson, Forest (Glenda) Boling of Covington; a sister, Marian Gustus of Veedersburg; four grandchildren, Dawn (Jerry) Thomas of Thorntown; Alan Overfelt of Crawfordsville; Lee (Robin) Boling of Covington and Barbara (Mike) Weldon of Veedersburg and great grandchildren, Cameron and Lindsay Thomas; Logan Weldon; Austin and Dillon Boling and Emily Long.
Services will be held at Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro today at 2 p.m. with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be held in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery in Waynetown. - kbz
