Miss Mellie Boynton, died Friday afternoon about 4:30 o'clock after an illness lasting just two weeks. She was attacked by the grip two weeks ago yesterday and at one time was up and about, but a relapse came and for the past few days until her death has been expected. She was born in this city forty years ago and has lived here ever since a quiet but consistent Christian life. She was a member of Center church and a regular attendant. For the past four years she has been a devoted nurse of her mother, Mrs. Abbie Ramey, who is an invalid. She is a sister of Mrs. Elizabeth Boynton Harbert, of Evanston, a half sister of Belty Ramey, and a niece of Mrs. T. D. Brown. The funeral was held on Monday morning at 10 o'clock at the residence of T. D. Brown, Dr. R. J. Cunningham and Rev. E. B. Thomson conducting the services. Interment was at Oak Hill.

The funeral of Mary Ellen Boynton occurred this morning at the residence of T. D. Brown. Dr. R. J. Cunningham conducted the services and his address was a comfort to the mourning relatives and full of beautiful lessons drawn from the life of the dead. Center Church choir sang three hymns, one of them being “Paradise”, by special request of Mrs. Elizabeth Boynton Harbert.
