Alexander Bowers, son of David and Catherine Bowers, was born in Putnam County, Indiana, July 8, 1832, and died Nov. 12 1916, aged eighty-four years, four months and four days. He was married to Elizabeth Wilson and to this union three children were born, Mrs. J. W. VanCleave of Albuquerque, New Mexico; E. W. Bowers of Lancaster, Missouri; and Robert W. who died in infancy. His second marriage was to Hannah Faust and to this union three children were born, Emma R. Wilkinson and Carrie L. Wray of this place and Albert A. who died eight years ago in Kansas City. He was again married in December 1878 to Mrs. Sarah Byerly, who preceded him in death five years. He is survived by four children, fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two brothers, George Bowers of this city and William Bowers of Russellsville, Ind, also one sister Mrs Javier[?] Hargrove of Richmond, Kansas survive. Alexander Bowers lived a righteous life and died firm in the faith. He was first a member of the Lutheran Church but later united with the Christian Church, in which faith he remained steadfast until his death. (copied)

Alexander Bowers 1832-1916 and Hannah Faust Bowers (I do not know her date). Your grandmother Susan Catherine was daughter of Alexander Bowers and Elizabeth Wilson Bowers. Mother's full name was Emma Rachel Bowers Wilkinson. She was daughter by Grandpa's second marriage. She was born 1867, died 1951. Grandpa Bowers' children in order

Emma[?] Van __? Uncle Albert married Hinta Wray.
