Lawson H. Booe, son of Phillip and Jemima Clinton Booe was born in Scotts Prairie, Fountain County April 10, 1833. He grew to manhood in this neighorhood. Nov 5, 1857 he was united in marriage to Isabel J. Hesler, who died August 26, 1863. A son and daughter were the fruit of this union, the son dying in infancy. The daughter married Silas Vickery but has since died, leaving one son, Fred Vickery, now the only living ? of this immediate family. Jan 7, 1869, he married the widow of James Campbell, formerly Martha Justus. To this union was born one daughter, Elora now Mrs. Earl O'Rear, who has one son, Joseph Lawson O'Rear. Lawson H. Booe united with the Scotts Prairie Christian Church in 1869, 46 years ago. When he moved to Veedersburg in 1880 he put his membership in the First Christian Church here. He engaged in the grocery business and was successful. In later years he was engaged in gardening and raising fruit, at which he was unusually successful. He was one of the oldest masons in this vicinity. He was elected to the city council 2 1/2 years ago and was a faithful member being chairman of the street committee at the time of his death. He was an incessant worker all his life and dropped dead of apoplexy while at work Wednesday morning, September 8, aged 82 Years 4 Months and 28 Days. He was buried at Rockfield Cemetery Rev. Lee Tinsley of the First Christian Church officiating at the funeral services.
