Blacketer - Cortney

Cortney Blacketer, 85, of Covington passed away Thursday, October 28, 1976, at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Danville Ill. He had been in failing health for three months and in the hospital the last two weeks. He was born March 8 1891 in Cates, Ind., the son of Norman and Elizabeth Avernathy Blacketer. He was married on September 9, 1919 in Fountain County to Edna Susan Weber who passed away November 29, 1975. He was a veteran of World War I in the Navy. Survivors are one son, Courtney Blacketer of West Lebanon; four daughters, Mrs. Earl (Josephine) Galloway of R. R. 4, Veedersburg; Mrs. Maralee Benedict of West Lebanon; Mrs. Vivian McDaniel of Attica; Mrs. Marie Dobbs of R. R. 3, Veedersburg; twenty one grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, two infant daughters, five brothers and two sisters. He was a former Charter Member of the Covington V. F. W. He was a retired farmer of the Covington and West Lebanon area. He was a former member of Coopers Chapel. Services at the DeVerter Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiating. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Covington.
