The funeral of the late Samuel Binford occurred at 2 o’clock this afternoon at his late residence. Dr. Tuttle, as requested by the deceased, conducted the services and made a beautiful address on his long life and many virtues. Dr. R. J. Cunningham led in prayer and Center Church choir sang two hymns. Col. I. C. Elston, Capt. R.E. Bryant, Joseph Milligan, John R. Robinson, Charles Goltra, and John S. Brown were the pall bearers. The casket was a superb one of solid cedar, with heavy black trimmings and a fac simili of those in which the bodies of Grant and Garfield were laid away. The funeral was very largely attended, and of all ages and class is showing how general the respect in which Mr. Binford was held.
