Mary M., fourth child of Robert W. and Amanda SPENCER Bloomfield, was born on the farm SE of town now owned by Alva Hunsicker, Jan 16, 1861. At 11 on the evening of Feb 13 she passed into that beautiful home of the soul. Since 1885 the legion of teachers that came from away to teach in the Waveland schools found a home in the Bloomfield family. After he mother's death, Mollie, with her sister, continued to cater to their needs. She has many dear friends among those teachers. Miss Florence Cowan who has taken her meals in the Bloomfield home for years mourns her loss. "She leaves one sister, Mrs. Charles H. DEERE, four nephews, 3 nieces, several cousins and a host of friends and neighbors. She united with the Christian Church under the pastorate of Elder AB Plunkett and was there as long as her health permitted. Loyalty to her Church kindred, good service, friendliness, love of all were attributes learned of the Great Teacher. While she will be missed there remains the inspiration that must come form this life so well spent and from her life we have the assurance she will hear the glorious welcome. well done, though good and faithful servant, enter into the joys of the Lord."
