Mrs. Jennie BLAKE, 86, one of the oldest residents of the Freedom neighborhood, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Zura Monroe near Freedom at 6:35 o'clock Tuesday monring. Death followed an illness of 4 weeks with a complication of ailments. Mrs. Blake was born near Waveland on June 29, 1855, the daughter of Alfred and Samantha Mitchell. She was married to Gilbert Blake who died on Feb 1, 1931. Mrs. Blake was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church. The deceased was the last of a family of 9 children. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Zura Monroe of near Freedom; two granddaughters Mrs. Wanetah Bannon of near Ladoga and Mrs. Naomi Cox of Crawfordsville, and 3 great grandchildren. One son and 8 brothers and sisters, in addition to the husband preceded her in death. The body was removed to the Noble Reeves Funeral Home in New Market to remain until Wed afternoon. The body was then taken to Freedom where the funeral was held from the Freedom Church at 10;30 o'clock Thursday morning with burial in Freedom Cemetery. - kbz
