WAYNETOWN – Mrs. Maude A. Blackford, 90, a life resident of Montgomery County and last surviving member of the Charlie Ellis Sunday School Class of the Waynetown Baptist Church, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Evelyn) Shute. She was a member of the Baptist Church and its Ladies Aid and Missionary societies and a charter member of Wayne Township Home Demonstration Club and Wayne Township Farm Bureau Co-Op. Born Nov. 7, 1880, near Alamo, she was a daughter of John Wesley and Elizabeth Lewellen Grubbs. She married Walter N. Blackford on Nov. 12, 1902, at the family home in Elmdale. He died in 1966. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Shute of Waynetown and Mrs. Thomas (Mary) James of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. A brother, William Grubbs, is deceased. Funeral rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Servies-Thomas Funeral Home, with Rev. Rob James officiating and burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. – jlr
