Black - Harriet Bates

Mrs. Harriett E. Black, 80, died at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Westbrook Nursing Home. She had been ill for several months. Mrs. Black was the widow of William M. (Billy) Black, who was employed by the Ben Hur Life Association for many years. He died in October, 1958. She was born Aug. 27, 1886, in Crawfordsville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Bates. Mrs. Black was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, and was active in church affairs for many years. There are no close survivors. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Episcopal Church, with Rev. Robert J. Webb in charge. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home. – jlr
