Ernest Elmer Black, 58, a life resident here, died Wednesday in Culver Hospital. A Montgomery County native, he was a son of Ernest E. and Cereldia Iles Black and was born Sept 17, 1911. He was a member of the National Guard 15 years and was employed 8 years with the state highway department. Surviving are his mother, his wife, Betty Louise, to whom he was wed March 13, 1938; two sons, Ernest Lee of Veedersburg and Robert Joe at home; four daughters, Mrs. Hubert Franklin of Mellott; Mrs. Larry Morrison of Russellville and Linda Sue and Diana Linn, at home; a sister, Mrs. Eleanore Shillings of Roachdale; two brothers, Claude Edward and Charles David Black of Crawfordsville; and 8 grandchildren. A sister, Lucille Black preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bright Funeral Home wit Rev. Robert Shotts the minister and burial in Darlington IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday. -- kbz
