Mrs. David Binford, age 72 years, 5 months, and 13 days, passed away last Friday night at her home near Garfield following a long illness.
Mrs. Binford's maiden name was Georgetta Payne. She was the daughter of George and Jane Payne and was born in Butler County, Ohio, September 17, 1850. She with her parents moved to Montgomery County, Indiana in 1856. In March 1869 she was married to David Binford who survives. To this union seven children were born; Mrs. A.E. Wilinson, Mrs. Byron E. Cox, Mrs. Oscar Hole, Clyde, Harry and Owen all living near the old home place and Willaard the oldest son living at Sheridan. One brother, Willard Payne, of Crawfordsville is yet living. She also leaves twenty - seven grand children and six great grand children and a host of other relatives and friends.
It can be truthfully be said of her "she lived a christian life." Through a long trying illness she never murmured or complained but always greeted relatives and friends with a smile and word of cheer.
Her funeral was held at the Garfield church where she had belonged since its organization, prior to that being a member of the Christian church at Crawfordsville. The service was conducted by the Rev. M.H. Appley of Crawfordsville assisted by her pastor, Rev. Judy.
A quartette composed of Mrs. Glenn Carson, Mrs. Frank Caldwell, Walter Stewart and Carl Fletcher accompanied by Miss Ina Bowers sang several favorite selections of the deceased.
The pall bearers were the following grandsons; Graydon and Adrian Cox, Loren and Charles Binford and Behmer and Howard Wilkinson. Her remains were laid to rest in Greenlawn cemetary.
