Darlington, Nov 6 - Word was received here today of the death of RPA Berryman, better known when he lived here as Perry. He did at Briston, Tenn and his death was due to Bright's disease. He will be buried in a cemetery near Elizabethtown, Tenn by the side of his mother, who died about two years ago. He was employed by the Globe Tanning Company of Louisville, KY of which Thomas Martin, formerly of Darlington is identified. Perry was the son of Dr. and Mrs. James A. Berryman. The Dr. was for years one of the leading citizens of Sugar Creek Township, where he practiced medicine at Potato Creek for 35 years. For 25 years he was the trustee of Sugar Creek Twp and for the same length of time was postmaster at Potato Creek. The latter part of the Dr's life was spent in Darlington.. He died about 15 years ago. Several years ago Perry Berryman went to California. Later he moved to Tennessee where he has since resided. He is survived by his second wife and one brother, Chester Berryman, of Oklahoma City, OK. - kbz

News reached here this morning that RPA Berryman general manage of the Watauga Extract Company died last night in St. Luke’s hospital from Bright’s disease and other complications. Mr. Berryman came to Elizabethton a few years ago with the Watauga Extract Co and was a fine business man and was held in high esteem by his employers., Several months ago his health began to fail and all that medical skill could do was done to restore his health. DGL Campbell, his physician took him to Hot Springs, NC but the healing waters failed to relieve him and later he was taken to St. Luke’s hospital. He was also in Lincoln Memorial hospital at Knoxville for a few weeks. The funeral will take place Friday afternoon in Elizabethton and his remains will be interred in Highland cemetery. – kbz

Bristol, VA Nov 5 – RPA Berryman, manager of extensive extract works at Elizabethton, Tenn died in a Bristol hospital today where he had been for treatment. He was 52 years old and a native of Indiana. He was survived by his wife.

RPA Berryman, a prominent citizen of Elizabethton and for many years manager of the Watauga Extract company in that city died yesterday morning at 3 a.m. at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness of nephritis. Mr. Berryman had been at St, Luke’s since August 28. He was 52 years old and came to Elizabethton from Crawfordsville, Ind. His body was taken to Elizabethton yesterday accompanied by Mrs. Berryman and several officials of the Watauga Extract company. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon.
