William L. Benson, 450 N. Raymond Avenue, Pasadena for 40 years a resident of Pomona before he moved died last night at Pasadena Hospital after a one day’s illness. He was well known in Pomona, having made his home in his later years with JF Lobinger at 284 E. 3rd St. Mr. Benson was born in Ladoya (sic – Ladoga), Indiana June 12, 1849. He is survived by a son, Homer E. Benson, Lynwood, Calif; two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Hennessee, Los Angeles and Mrs. Hilda Williams, Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs. FE Burgess, Chicago and Mrs. Sofia Call, Greencastle, Indiana and nine grand children. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Pomona. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the Fred E. Brown Funeral Home here with Rev. Charles Hutsler, pastor of First Christian Church in charge. Burial will be in Pomona cemetery. – kbz
